Frequently Asked Questions

The algorithm generally determines fish length to within 10% and fish weight to within 20% accuracy. If an estimate is ever inaccurate, you can easily override it — and the system will learn from that! Help us train our algorithm to be as accurate as possible.

Not for measuring, but if you want to share results or save them to your trip log, an internet connection is required.

Yes, the Magic Ball is universal, so multiple people can use the same device with their own app accounts.

Keep the ball close to the fish and in the same plane. It's important that the fish isn't 10 metres from the camera while the ball is only 50 centimetres away — both the fish and the ball should be equidistant from the camera. Also, photograph the fish from exactly the side so its full surface is visible.
